Welcome to the Global Affairs Office (GAO) of the University of Macau (UM)!

Founded in 1981, UM is an internationalised public comprehensive university in Macao. Today, UM has become one of the most internationalized universities in the world, attracting global students and scholars to engage in high-quality education, teaching and research. With English as the main medium of instruction, the university is committed to training and preparing our students as global citizens.

To enhance the University’s core mission in teaching, research and knowledge exchange from a global perspective, GAO was established to facilitate global engagement and academic exchange between UM and peer institutions around the world. In particular, GAO is primarily responsible for developing and managing international initiatives and partnerships, coordinating academic visits to and from other academic entities, and developing joint/dual degree programs, and joint research centers and laboratories. In addition, GAO is continuously strengthening campus internationalization by promoting international students recruitment and coordinating incoming/outgoing students/scholars exchange programs.

Going forward, under the leadership of the UM’s management team, GAO will work closely with our key partner institutions, to form strategic alliances to further promote education, research and academic collaborations and boost UM’s impacts in Macao, the Greater Bay Area, the whole country and the world as a leading academic institution.

If you are interested in any of our programs and initiatives, or if you have any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact me or any of my colleagues at GAO, we will be happy to connect with you.
