IAU (International Association of Universities)

Current Position: Member
A member since 1998

IAU was founded in 1950 which is the UNESCO-based worldwide association of higher education institutions with members from 130 countries. IAU aims to encourage universities and other higher education institutions as social institutions to promote the principles of freedom, justice, human dignity and solidarity, and contributes to the development of material and moral assistance for the strengthening of higher education.

IAUP (International Association of University Presidents)

IAUP, founded in 1964, is an association of university chief executives from higher education institutions worldwide. Over the years, IAUP has contributed to the strengthening of the international mission and quality of education of its member institutions and has grown to become an association of several hundred members from nearly 100 countries. IAUP aims to promote global awareness and competence, peace and international understanding, and to facilitate the exchange of professional experience through conferences, seminars, publications, and commissions.

CRUP (Conselho de Reitores das Universidades Portuguesas)

Council of Rectors of Portuguese Universities (CRUP) is based in Lisbon, Portugal that is composed by all the Rectors of 16 Public Universities in Portugal, including University of Lisbon, University of Porto, University of Coimbra, University of Aveiro, University of Minho, New University of Lisbon, Catholic University of Lisbon, University of Algarve, etc. University of Macau was a full-member represented by the Rector or Vice-Rector between 1995 and 1999. Since 1999, based on the decision of the Joint-Liaison Group between Portugal and China, University of Macau has became an Invited Member and participates in CRUP meetings when they are held in Macao during the AULP Annual Meetings

AULP (The Association of Portuguese Speaking Universities)

A member since 1995

AULP covers more than 200 higher education institutions from Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, East-Timor and Macao, including Universities, Polytechnic Institutes and other Research Institutes as members. They also have Associate Members from Department of Portuguese in local higher education institutions of USA, France, Italy, etc. AULP members in Macao are University of Macau, Macao Polytechnic Institute, Institute for Tourism Studies, International Institute of Macau, University of Saint-Joseph and City University of Macau. The Association is run by a Board of Administrators with one President and four Vice-Presidents. University of Macau ran the Vice-Presidency of AULP for year 2005-2011 (in 2 mandates of 3 years each). AULP will hold an Annual Meeting by rotation among Portugal, Brazil, Africa and Macao. Macao has already organized the VIII (1998), XIII (2003), XVI (2006), XX (2010) and XXIV (2014) Annual Meetings in cooperation with local higher education members, in particular University of Macau, Macao Polytechnic Institute, Institute for Tourism Studies and International Institute of Macau.

IAESTE (The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience)

A member since 2004

IAESTE, founded in 1948 in UK, deals exclusively with the exchange of students for technical experience including Engineering, Science, Applied Arts, and Agriculture on a reciprocal basis. It is a non-political, independent, non-governmental organization in operational relationship with the UNESCO. Member countries and co-operating institutions of IAESTE cover more than 80 countries/ territories worldwide.

Eurasia-Pacific Uninet

Eurasia-Pacific Uninet, established in 2000, is a network which aims at establishing contacts and scientific partnerships between Austrian universities, universities of applied sciences, other research institutions and member institutions in East Asia, Central Asia, South Asia and the Pacific region. Eurasia-Pacific Uninet has over of 160 member institutions in Austria, China, Mongolia, Nepal, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, the Russian Federation, Bhutan, India, Nepal, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the Republic of Korea.

CES (Council for European Studies)

Founded in 1970, the mission of the Council for European Studies (CES) is to produce, support, and recognize outstanding, multi-disciplinary research on Europe and the European Union (EU) through a wide range of programs and initiatives. These include fellowships, grants, publications, awards, conferences and meetings, public lectures and symposia, as well as direct research.

UMAP (University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific)

UMAP is the acronym for the “University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific”. Founded in 1991, it is a voluntary association of government and non-government representatives of the higher education (university) sector. The general aim of UMAP is for each of the countries and territories in the Asia- Pacific region to achieve a better understanding of the cultural, economic and social systems of the other countries and territories in the region through enhanced cooperation among higher education institutions and increased mobility of university students and staff.

World Innovative Cities Cooperation Organization

Asia Pacific Higher Education Research Network

Asia Pacific Higher Education Research Network provides a research support network for higher education institutions in the Asia-Pacific region to share research experiences with university researchers in the Asia-Pacific region.
