To deepen exchanges and cooperation in higher education between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, Yonghua Song, rector of the University of Macau (UM), has recently led a delegation to visit the University of Hong Kong (HKU), the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), and the City University of Hong Kong (CityU). During the visits, Song had discussions and exchanged views with representatives of the universities, and explored the opportunities for deepening cooperation on academic exchanges, research collaborations, and talent cultivation.
During his meeting with Zhang Xiang, president and vice-chancellor of HKU, Song expressed hope to create more opportunities for high-quality cooperation in research and teaching between UM and HKU. At CUHK, Song met with Rocky Tuan, vice chancellor and president of the university, and discussed how to utilise the roles of UM and CUHK as vice chairs of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance and explored the future development direction of the alliance. During his meeting with Teng Jinguang, president of PolyU, Song expressed hope that UM and PolyU will continue to promote academic and research collaboration and facilitate teacher exchanges. At CityU, Song gave Freddy Boey, president of the university, an introduction to UM’s development, research layout, and international strategic layout and visited several laboratories and research centres at CityU.
