Aiming at enhancing the research capacity of the universities in Macao and establishing a knowledge network, on 3 May 2011, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed by delegation of University of Macau (UM) and Minister for Science, Technology and Higher Education Mariano Gago.
Under this MOU, several Portuguese universities and key laboratories established connection with University of Macau. In this scenario, this MOU will be a new model of international cooperation. Mr. Gago added this model is identical as the one where Portuguese universities cooperate with top-notch US universities, for example, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University.
