The Alliance aims to promote science and technology innovation and cooperation among cities in the western Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), facilitating talent development and science and technology advancement in the region, synergising innovation and deepening cooperation, and working together to build the “base for technological innovation and personnel training in western GBA,” to achieve coordinated development in the Greater Bay Area.

It focuses on the core tasks of fostering innovation across the omni-channel of scientific research, exploring new mechanisms for talent development, advancing the transformation of scientific achievements, and promoting and inheriting outstanding traditional culture, so as to strengthen the exchanges and cooperation among universities in Jiangsu, Hong Kong, and Macao in the areas of talent training, scientific research, social services, cultural inheritance, etc.

UMAP is the acronym for the “University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific”. Founded in 1991, it is a voluntary association of government and non-government representatives of the higher education (university) sector. The general aim of UMAP is for each of the countries and territories in the Asia- Pacific region to achieve a better understanding of the cultural, economic and social systems of the other countries and territories in the region through enhanced cooperation among higher education institutions and increased mobility of university students and staff.
