A delegation from Cape Verde, led by its Minister of Education, Family and Social Inclusion Maritza Rosabal Peña, recently visited the University of Macau (UM). The delegation met with UM representatives, including UM’s Vice Rector (Global Affairs) Rui Martins and Faculty of Law’s (FLL) Acting Dean Augusto Teixeira Garcia. Both parties expressed the wish for continued cooperation between UM and universities in Portuguese-speaking countries.

During the meeting, Prof Martins told the guests about UM’s history, campus development, signature disciplines, and research achievements. He also mentioned the signing of an agreement in 2015 between UM and the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Cape Verde on recommending outstanding students from Cape Verde to study at UM. He hopes the Ministry of Education of Cape Verde will continue to support this project. Ms Peña praised UM’s high-quality teacher training programmes and expressed hope for closer cooperation in this area.

The delegation also visited the FLL, where Prof Garcia shared the faculty’s latest developments and took the guests on a tour of the moot court, the lecture hall, the classrooms, and other facilities.
