To further expand the University of Macau’s (UM) international cooperation network and strengthen academic partnerships with universities in Vietnam, Director of Global Affairs Office Chunming Wang led a delegation to several top higher education institutions in Vietnam (Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City) on April 8 to 11 to paving the way for substantive collaborations and academic excellence.

During the visit to Hanoi, the delegation visited Vietnam National University (VNU), Hanoi, where they held a working meeting with Nguyen Trung Hien (Vice Director of Cooperation and Development Department of VNU Hanoi), and faculty representatives. Both institutions enthusiastically explored potential collaborations in business administration, electrical engineering, and student exchange programmes. The delegation also visited VNU – Hanoi University of Science, where they were warmly welcomed by Vice Rector Ngac An Bang and faculty leaders from biology, chemistry, and geography. Together, the two universities pledged to advance joint research, academic forums, and scholar exchanges, forging long-term scientific partnerships.

In Ho Chi Ming City, the delegation held a discussion with Ton Duc Thang University, where . Dinh Hoang Bach (Director of International Cooperation, Research and Training Institute of the university) expressed hopes to deepen ties in business and technology. Chunming Wang also awarded UM’s prestigious International Student Scholarship to an outstanding Vietnamese student – Chau Cuong Chi from University of Education Ho Chi Minh City, who will soon embark on an exciting academic journey, pursuing a Master of Philosophy in Education at UM. The delegation also visited the Association of Sponsoring the Chinese Literature in Ho Chi Minh City to further strengthen cooperation and exchange in educational talent between the two regions.

During this visit, the delegation held several sharing sessions, introducing UM’s learning environment and course information to over a hundred students, teachers, and parents. The Vietnamese attendees showed great interest in UM’s unique teaching environment and academic strengths, actively engaging in discussions and asking questions.

Additionally, the delegation visited the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam and the Consulate General of China in Ho Chi Minh City. Chunming Wang shared on UM’s development, internationalization efforts, and collaborations with Vietnamese institutions. Embassy Education Counselor Zheng Dawei fully endorsed UM’s internationalization progress and expressed the embassy’s full support for advancing higher education cooperation between UM and Vietnam, whereas Xu Zhou, Deputy Consul General at the Consulate General of China in Ho Chi Minh City, highly appreciated UM’s achievements and developments.
