Eligibility

Who can apply for the international student scholarship?

If you are an international student applying for full-time Bachelor’s or Master’s degree Programme who meet the admission requirements of the respective degree programme, you are automatically considered for the International Student Scholarship. The University of Macau will review all the international student applications and award scholarships to those who have demonstrated excellence in their academic performances.

*Remarks: Nationality of an applicant is China (including mainland China, Macao, Hong Kong and Taiwan China) is not considered as an international applicant.

 

International Student Scholarship(Bachelor)

 

Successful international students will receive the following:

  • Tuition fee waiver (1)
  • Residential College fee waiver for 10 months per academic year (summer stay fee not included) (2)

(1) After the first year of study, a Bachelor Awardee  must achieve the following to continue his/her Scholarship support in the subsequent academic year:
      a) Gained at least 30 credits or equivalent in the previous academic year; and
      b) Achieved Grade Point Average (GOA) equals or above 3.3, or 14 for 20-point system;
c) Fulfilled Residential College Requirement in  the previous academic year.

The aforesaid support is provided for a maximum term of 4 academic years for Bachelor Awardees or 5 academic years for Bachelor Awardees who admits to 5-year Bachelor’s programme.

Monthly stipend are available through the student trainee programme. Student trainee positions are subject to availability. Global Affairs Office will try to endeavor a placement for international students who are in need.

International Student Scholarship(Master)

 

Successful international students will receive the following:

  • Tuition fee waiver(1)
  • Postgraduate House (sharing room) fee waiver for 2 semesters per academic year (summer fee not included)

(1) A Master Awardee must achieve the endorsement from the academic unit concerned to continue his/her Scholarship support in the subsequent academic year. Such endorsement is primarily based on the assessment of his/her academic performance. 

The aforesaid support is provided for a maximum term of 2 academic years for Master Awardees or 3 academic years for Master Awardees who admits to 3-year Master’s programme.

Monthly stipend are available through the student trainee programme. Student trainee positions are subject to availability. Global Affairs Office will try to endeavor a placement for international students who are in need.

Other Scholarships

 

  • Admitted students may also be eligible for other types of UM scholarships. These scholarships are provided by individual or entrepreneurial donors, which are awarded according to students’ academic performance. For more details, please visit UM Scholarships
